1. Focus for a time on one industry. Know that life is a moving parade and that people in life are a different stages. That means that there is a
percentage of business owners who are always looking to buy, and another percentage who are always looking to sell.

  • Send a letter to all the dentists (for example) in your state and inform them that you will let them have a list of all the other dentists in the
state who want to buy their business.
  • Collect the names.
  • Then send another letter to all the dentists again, excluding the names of those who want to sell, and tell them that you have a list of
dentists who want to sell their business.
  • Match the two groups up, making sure you lock in a commission on both sides of the deal.

2. Write and publish a short book (or have it ghost-written at www.elance.com) and place an ad in the local paper, or send an announcement of
the book by direct mail to qualified lists (found at
www.srds.com). Give the book away to anyone who responds. This way, you establish yourself
as the authority and you help people take that step to actually sell their business through you.

3. Consider building an Internet platform for your area where people can buy or sell a business (You can find a software programmer at www.
rentacoder.com.)
